I don't normally post here, and it's been a while, but does anyone have any photos of Drew Hayes at Freak Manor? Drew's publisher is currently working on editing his autobiography and wanted to know if there are any publishable picture of him from Freak Manor. We'd need to know who else in in the pictures to get their permission, and (here's the hard part) the photos would would need to be naughty bits free. (lol)
If you have any photos, you can email me at ms.syren@gmail.com I'll also be at NorwesCon.
If you haven't heard from me in a while, it's because I've just been too busy to write... or I didn't know what to say.
This week, I'm just tired. After the show this past weekend at the Seattle Center Winter Solstice Fire Festival, I'm just trying to recover. But as you can see, it was a great show... at least by Sunday.

Yesterday, I posted an "Epic" entry about my thoughts, excitement, and hopes about the US electing Barak Obama as it's new President.
The only comment I got was anonymous, vile, and racist.
I hope that it will not be continue to be the only commentary I receive. I hope that those who believe, like I do, in the equality of all people will not sit idly by as they read it, but will lend their voice, and say something against ignorance and racism -or- for compassion, understanding, and equality.
It is a stark reminder that hate is still very present and very real.
At first, I was shocked, and considered deleting it. I decided not to because I feel it's important to see that even in the cozy, warm glow of victory- hate is still seething under the surface of our country. Perhaps we don't see it quite so openly in the politely turned eyes of strangers in Seattle, or the unspoken ethnic, religious, or racial lines drawn through neighborhoods across this nation. The mission is not complete.
The second reason I did not delete the comment is because we have a very precious gift here in the US- the Right to Free Speech. It means we can post blog entries without fear of being arrested, can comment and disagree with our government, , speak out about our world, protest in the street, and even say controversial and sadly, hateful things. And though I do not agree with the author of the comment, by deleting it I would be silencing his or her voice- which in it's own twisted way, is a threat to all free speech everywhere. I don't sit comfortably with that, but at the same time, I feel a deeper respect for all the people who have died so I can express my opinion without the threat of death or detention.
Today, I woke up happy. Today, I felt the weight of eight years of oppression lifted from my shoulders as my country used it's collective voting voice and elected a man who brings honor, vision, diplomacy, compassion, intelligence, and integrity back to the White House. Today, the "Real America" has spoken, and it is not a bigoted group of white Americans but a diverse, colorful, and beautiful collage of cultures, ethnicities, races, sexual orientations, and abilities. Today we proved that being black is no longer a barrier to being a President, and being an immigrant is no longer a crime, and that even the poorest child can grow up and be anything he wants.
I am proud that my fellow citizens shook the restraints of apathy and used their right to vote. Too long we've felt like our voice didn't matter, our deeds wouldn't make a difference. I am honored to be one of the many who cast my vote for change. I am excited for the children in my life, my nephews and my students, who will be able to grow up in a much better world than the one we've had for the last 8 years, because the big guy in Washington DC is looking out for them... and their children... and their children.
I'm relieved that the world and my country went dancing in the streets last night, instead of rioting- streets that I've protested on and seen tanks and teargas attack Americans on. That I could stand in a crowd of thousands and not be arrested for "not having a permit" or being "out of the protest zone". I stood in the center of that crowd with pentheus and we kissed for joy as the bodies of stangers jostled our sides and shook our hearts as they jumped in ecstacy.
I am hopeful for the many people in the world who now believe in America again. That they too can come to this country and make a better life for their children. That someday, maybe their grandchild will become President of the United States. Or that our country will not abuse it's power and attack them, or bomb them because they are brown, or have a funny name, or believe in different religion, or were born on land with oil under it.
Mostly, I am glad we will finally have a President who understands what it mean to be an true American, who is humble enough to know he cannot change this country alone and need to earn the people's trust. That as President, it is his job to have the people's trust. He is a man who has inspired and motivated the citizens to dig their hands in and make this a country they can be proud of.
It's easy with all the glamor and mud-slinging of the Presidential Campaign to forgot that we're also in a very contentious gubernatorial race here in Washington State. Dino Rossi (R) is again trying to run against Governor Christine Gregoire (D).
To ad insult to injury, one of the changes Rossi hopes to make as Governor is to cut the state's minimum wage by $1.50. Not to be snarky, but since when do minimum wage workers make enough with their 2-5 jobs to take a pay cut? Perhaps we should take Rossi's econmic advisor's point of view, Kittitas County Republican chair Matt Manweller. Because clearly Poor= "Dumb as a Post".
Mr. Manweller, when was the last time you had to support yourself on less than $1,200 a month? Perhaps you should try, and, as you so intellegently recommended- why not put yourself through college at the same time.
My boss's son wrote and performed the music for this video.
Watching it gives me shivers. I think I've waited my whole life for a candidate who lives up to the humanity, justice, and ideals of a compassionate society. It's why I've never shrunk away from voting and being active in my government- because I've hoped that by lending my voice, someday change would come. And I've understand that choosing to use that voice or to stay silent has an impact on whether or not that change will come.
I hope you vote, but even if you don't, I hope you can still be a voice of change to your community through your actions.
As all of you probably know by now, Washington Mutual was bought by JP Morgan Chase earlier this week. I wanted to give you a little friendly warning about my previous experience going through a buy-out process with Chase.
What you should do immediately if you bank with WaMu: 1. Print current statements for all your accounts. 2. Save every ATM receipt. 3. Watch your statements very carefully and reconcile every month.
You're my friends. I thought you should know cuz I don't want you to have to go through the trouble I did. Now I'm off to save my retirement fund.
Disclaimer: This isn't intended to scare anyone. I just give you a little heads up to do some extra research, update and print your records, and watch your bank accounts carefully. This is only one person's experience. I hope it inspires you to bank with caution. If you don't bank with WaMu or JP Morgan Chase, you may not care at all, but you may have friends who will.
Can anyone recommend a good IT support consultant for a small business? My office is looking for basic ongoing PC support for one laptop and one desktop computer. This should be an already established business.
As you know, I've been overly busy and consumed with Open Flame Dance Theater's first performance Ignition. It's been over two years since I actively started working on this. Many of you have lent your hands, heart, and talents to make the half-brained vision I had become a reality, to which I am eternally grateful. Thank you!
Now, our premiere performance is just a few days away! The process has been beautiful, challenging, thrilling, terrifying, inspiring, crushing, and just incredible. This year has been a terrible struggle for the Seattle arts community, at a time when we're developing a whole new style of dance performance. From taking over a year to secure a venue to all the bumps and hiccups of any production, we've gotten this far despite it all.
Now I have one more favor to ask... ok, two. Please join us at this stunningly beautiful show that the cast and I have created for you, and please bring friends who wouldn't otherwise know about us. Please forward our show information to everyone you know. Ignition is the culmination of the last decade of my artistic work- and it's a style of dance that's never been seen before. I am so very proud of our work and I know we want to share it with as many loved ones and new friends as possible. If you haven't seen me dance -or- dance with fire - or- seen my choreography, this is the show to see!
If you haven't bought your tickets already, now is the time! Ticket sales at the door will be CASH ONLY and very limited.
